Join Preferred by Nature, an international non-profit organisation working to promote sustainable land use, responsible supply chains and climate-friendly business practices worldwide. As our Regulatory Impact Programme Intern, you will contribute to research, policy monitoring and knowledge-sharing activities that help organisations navigate evolving sustainability regulations and strengthen positive impacts for people, nature and the climate.

What you will be doing

1. Support policy research and analysis

· Monitor and track sustainability-related policy and regulatory developments.

· Research emerging regulations and assess their relevance to key sustainability topics.

· Help identify trends, opportunities and challenges arising from evolving regulatory frameworks.

2. Contribute to knowledge and resource development

· Support the development of internal resources and materials that build organisational knowledge and capability.

· Assist in creating content that helps colleagues understand key regulatory developments.

· Organise and maintain information and reference materials.

3. Support stakeholder communication

· Research and draft content that informs stakeholders about important sustainability policies and regulations.

· Assist with communications and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

· Help translate complex regulatory topics into clear and accessible information.

4. Assist with programme operations

· Support the development and maintenance of administrative and technical tools used by the programme.

· Help coordinate activities and manage information across different projects.

· Provide policy-related support to colleagues across Preferred by Nature when needed.

Education and background

You may be a final-year bachelor’s student, a recent graduate, or currently pursuing or completing a master’s degree in one of the following areas:

· Geography

· Forestry

· Biology

· Environmental studies

· Environmental policy

· Sustainability or business sustainability

· Development studies

· A related field

What we are looking for

· Demonstrated interest in sustainability policy, governance or regulatory developments.

· Strong research and analytical skills.

· Excellent written and spoken English.

· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively and work both independently and collaboratively.

· Confidence in carrying out routine tasks accurately and consistently.

· A creative approach to problem-solving.

· Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Internship details

Duration: 6 months.

Hours: Flexible, between 15 and 25 hours per week. The schedule will be agreed with the selected intern, taking account of studies and other commitments.

Location and work eligibility: The intern must be based in Denmark, Estonia or Lithuania for the duration of the internship and must already have the right to work in their country of residence. Preferred by Nature is unable to provide visa or work permit sponsorship for this internship.
