Senior Finance Specialist
Do you have a passion for finance and sustainability? Are you experienced in financial management for donor-funded projects and/or in working with private companies committed to sustainability goals? Are you eager to support regenerative agriculture initiatives? If so, you might be the match for our role as Senior Finance Specialist, based in Europe.
What you can expect:
As a Senior Finance Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring the financial sustainability, efficiency, and compliance of our regenerative agriculture portfolio. You will manage the financial planning, reporting, and donor compliance of complex, multi-stakeholder programs including Landscape Enterprise Networks (LENs) and the Responsible Sourcing Programme (RSP). This position requires strategic financial thinking, excellent coordination skills, and hands-on experience managing budgets in international, donor-funded environments.
Working with us is never routine so in the first year, you can expect the following areas to be central to your work.
- Lead programmatic financial management for regenerative agriculture projects, including budgeting, cost control, and fund disbursement.
- Monitor financial performance across country programs and provide timely analysis, reporting, and forecasting to partners and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with funder requirements and internal audit standards, coordinating reporting processes and supporting donor engagements.
- Support project managers with budget development, fund allocation, and contractual alignment.
- Provide input into financial models and tools for scaling regenerative investments (e.g. outcome-based payments, landscape investment plans).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with project teams, implementation partners, and funders.
Your first year with us:
Within three months, you will:
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of Preferred by Nature’s mission, regenerative agriculture strategy, and financial systems.
- Familiarize yourself with financial procedures, compliance requirements, and partner funding flows.
- Support program managers with onboarding of new programs, budget validation, and financial planning.
Within six months, you will:
- Take full ownership of financial oversight for LENs and other REA initiatives.
- Lead budgeting, monitoring, and reporting processes across multiple projects.
- Refine templates and reporting tools based on operational needs
Within one year, you will:
- Drive financial strategy for REA programs, contributing to scaling investment models and co-financing strategies.
- Represent the REA team in funding dialogues, proposal development, and donor negotiations.
- Mentor colleagues and improve financial tools related to impact investing, climate finance, and regenerative agriculture.
Important that you:
- Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Have 5+ years of experience in financial management, preferably in international development, agriculture, or environmental programs.
- Are experienced with donor-funded project compliance, reporting, and budgeting (e.g. foundations, corporations, public funders).
- Possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Are comfortable managing multiple budgets and funding streams.
- Have experience working in multicultural and cross-functional teams.
- Are fluent in English (written and spoken).
Would also be great, but not necessary, if you:
- Have worked with regenerative agriculture, climate finance, carbon farming schemes or multi-countries program finance.
- Have knowledge of financial systems such as Salesforce or FinancialForce.
- Hold a financial certification (e.g. CPA, CMA, ACCA).
If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
