What you can expect:
As a Junior Learning and Development Designer, you will play a key role in designing and delivering engaging digital learning materials that enhance knowledge-sharing within Preferred by Nature. Your focus will be on developing interactive e-learning content, ensuring accessibility and effectiveness, and contributing to a culture of continuous learning. Upon joining Preferred by Nature, you will have the opportunity to refine your instructional design skills within a global, mission-driven organization.
Working with us is never routine so the first year you can expect the following areas to be central to your work.
- Design and develop engaging digital learning content by creating e-learning modules, instructional videos, infographics, and interactive courses using authoring tools and multimedia software to enhance learner experience.
- Optimize and enhance training materials by reviewing and refining existing content to improve engagement, accessibility, and effectiveness while incorporating best practices in instructional design.
- Ensure seamless LMS integration by uploading, structuring, and testing digital learning content in the Learning Management System (LMS) to guarantee smooth functionality and user accessibility.
- Collaborate with internal experts by working closely with trainers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and key stakeholders to align digital learning solutions with organizational goals and ensure content accuracy.
- Leverage digital tools for innovation by utilizing video editing, graphic design, and e-learning development software to create visually appealing, interactive, and immersive learning experiences.
- Maintain quality and brand consistency by ensuring all learning materials adhere to branding guidelines, accessibility standards, and quality benchmarks to deliver a cohesive and professional learning experience.
Your first year with us
Within three months, you will:
- Familiarize yourself with Preferred by Nature’s mission, branding guidelines, and digital content creation tools. Review the Learning Design Framework to align with best practices and complete the Design Workshop course, including e-learning on Rise and recorded webinars.
- Contribute to content development by assisting in the transformation of existing training materials into engaging e-learning content under the guidance of senior designers. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand learning objectives and ensure content accuracy.
- Support digital learning integration by assisting with content migration and organization in the Learning Management System (LMS), including uploading materials, structuring courses, testing LMS features, and providing support to internal staff.
Within six months, you will:
- Independently design and create graphics, animations, and interactive elements while converting in-person training into digital formats such as e-learning modules and microlearning. Ensure training content is engaging, accessible, and aligned with learning objectives.
- Extract and analyze LMS data (e.g., completion rates, engagement levels) to measure training effectiveness, track learning impact, and make data-driven improvements. Contribute to streamlining content development by creating templates and standardized structures.
- Provide guidance on best practices for content adaptation and e-learning design methodologies. Assist team members in using digital tools effectively and ensure seamless integration of learning materials into the LMS..
Within one year, you will:
- Take ownership of designing new learning content, ensuring alignment with instructional design principles and best practices in user experience. Optimize e-learning materials for various platforms to enhance accessibility and seamless integration.
- Explore advanced learning techniques such as gamification and AI-driven personalization to improve learner engagement. Contribute to strategic discussions on enhancing digital learning experiences and staying updated with emerging design trends.
- Provide ongoing improvements to the LMS by refining content creation processes, tracking engagement metrics, and enhancing reporting capabilities. Develop and maintain comprehensive LMS training materials, including advanced user guides, troubleshooting manuals, and interactive tutorials.
Important that you:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Instructional Design, Multimedia Development, or a related field.
- Have at least 1-2 years of experience in designing and developing e-learning content or multimedia projects.
- Are proficient in e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia) and graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
- Have a strong understanding of design principles, including layout, typography, and color theory.
- Are familiar with instructional design frameworks and adult learning principles.
- Have excellent organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Possess strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team.
- Are fluent in spoken and written English.
Would also be great, but not necessary, if you:
- Have experience with animation tools (e.g., Vyond, After Effects) and video editing software.
- Are familiar with accessibility standards for digital learning (e.g., WCAG).
- Have experience designing multi-language content and localization practices.
