Senior Accounting and Finance Specialist, Thailand

If so, then you might be the match for our role as Senior Accounting and Finance Specialist based in Thailand.
What you can expect:
As a Senior Accounting and Finance Specialist, you will manage the processing of expenses, client invoices, and staff reimbursements, ensuring accuracy and timely payments. You will oversee bank transactions, payroll journals, and compliance with tax regulations (VAT, CIT, WHT), while also managing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes with the global finance team. Additionally, you will prepare and file tax reports, advise staff on tax matters, and ensure accurate reconciliation of taxes and payments between the Thai office, Denmark headquarters, and related parties. You will also assist with statutory audits and maintain financial documentation.
Working with us is never routine so in the first year, you can expect the following areas to be central to your work.
- Manage a variety of accounting tasks, including processing expenses, payroll, staff reimbursements, and handling tax filings (VAT, CIT, WHT), ensuring compliance with local and global standards.
- Oversee complex financial transactions, such as international payments between offices in Thailand, Denmark, and Estonia, and ensure accurate reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Provide expert advice on staff reimbursement processes and ensure full compliance with tax regulations, contributing to the development of efficient global financial practices.
- Ensure the effective management of the pass-through fee system, monitoring and reconciling fees for all clients, while collaborating with senior management to resolve discrepancies.
- Handle company credit card management, including daily transaction uploads, monitoring card limits, and ensuring the accuracy of reconciliations between card statements and financial records.
- Work closely with regional management, providing support for both local and international financial operations, and contribute to the preparation of financial reports and audits.
Your first year with us:
Within three months, you will:
- Familiarize yourself with accounting systems, processes, and software, focusing on and taking ownership of daily tasks such as processing expenses, issuing client invoices, recording bank transactions, payroll journals, and assisting with tax preparation and filing.
- Build a strong understanding of financial reporting and tax compliance for the limited company in Thailand by participating in training sessions and consulting with senior team members to ensure seamless integration into the finance team.
- Handle credit card process in the headquarters by uploading transactions, checking expense reports, doing reconciliation, and working with the bank to open/ close cards and support staff.
Within six months, you will:
- Independently manage the monthly/quarterly financial close process, including payroll entries, tax filings (VAT, CIT, WHT), and reconciliation of accounts with Thai authorities and the global finance team.
- Take full responsibility for pass-through fee management at the headquarters level, ensuring timely reconciliations and accurate communication with senior management regarding any discrepancies.
- Serve as the primary advisor on tax matters, payroll calculations, and compliance with local Thai regulations, enhancing coordination between Thailand, Denmark, and Estonia offices.
Within one year, you will:
- Lead the preparation of year-end financial statements, overseeing all aspects of statutory compliance, tax reconciliation, and collaboration with the global finance team to meet reporting deadlines.
- Support the statutory audit preparation by organizing financial documentation and assisting auditors, ensuring alignment with local regulations and international accounting standards.
- Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes, implementing best practices for automation, expense tracking, and financial reporting to improve efficiency and accuracy across the organization.
Important that you:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in finance, accounting or a related field
- 8+ years of experience with accounting, financial reporting and corporate accounting tax
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
- Knowledge of international accounting standards. Experience in working in international organizations and working with different departments for different services;
- Full proficiency in the use of the MS Office package (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Strong understanding of administrative IT systems, and the ability to learn to work with new programs fast;
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and good governance;
- High level of self-discipline, ability to organize and manage tasks and time;
- Excellent communication skills and inter-cultural skills to work with staff across the world and external partners, responsiveness and punctuality
- Strong commitment to contributing to Preferred by Nature’s vision and mission.
Would also be great, but not necessary, if you:
- Have a higher degree in accounting and finance
- Having experience working in an NGO
