Would you like to join a dynamic team of like-minded individuals who are at the forefront of environmental protection? We are currently seeking a Sustainability Specialist with a background in agriculture to join our team at Preferred by Nature.

Your role will be pivotal in driving forward sustainable agricultural practices, leveraging your interpersonal skills and your proficiency in measurement, reporting, and verification. As a key contributor to our Landscape Enterprise Network (LENs) initiatives, you'll have the chance to make significant strides in sustainability across Hungary and Poland. Your first year promises a dynamic blend of challenges and learning opportunities, where you'll be deeply involved in shaping strategies, cultivating new partnerships, and navigating the complexities of sustainable agriculture.
In this multifaceted role, you'll not only contribute to strategic project planning but also engage directly in the implementation phase, ensuring our sustainability projects not only achieve their objectives but also pave the way for innovative practices in the field. Your efforts will be complemented by essential administrative duties, from overseeing contract management to ensuring effective communication with service providers, all aimed at facilitating the smooth progression of our projects.
Within your first three months, you will:
- Dive into the heart of our mission by familiarizing yourself with our project's ambitious goals, objectives, and key performance indicators.
- Forge and deepen meaningful connections within our project consortium and through stakeholder meetings, understanding the diverse roles, high expectations, and the intricate context that together drive our collective pursuit of sustainability.
- Engage in the co-creation of our Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) strategy, where your insights will contribute to the blueprint of our project's success.
- Navigate and master our internal processes, from the intricacies of Salesforce to the precision of timesheet completion and expense reporting, arming you with the tools to seamlessly integrate and excel within our team.
Within six months, you will:
- Engage directly in farmer activities and training sessions, where you'll not only witness the growth of sustainability practices but also contribute innovative ideas, enriching the project's scope and enhancing its impact from the ground up.
- Embark on exploratory visits to project areas, your keen eye identifying challenges and your ingenuity crafting impactful solutions.
- Play a key role in shaping our Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) strategy and performance monitoring, where your insights and suggestions will drive continuous improvement, contributing significantly to the blueprint of our project's success.
Within one year, you will:
- Represent our project with confidence at stakeholder meetings, driving our vision forward while optimizing operations through your adept management of contracts and administrative processes.
- Champion the project’s digital transformation by overseeing our project database and integrating innovative solutions, enhancing efficiency and the impact of our work.
- Fuel our strategic growth and knowledge culture by proposing innovative initiatives and staying attuned to industry trends, sharing insights to inspire continuous learning and expansion within our team.
Important that you have:
• A master’s degree in agronomy, agricultural economics, rural sociology or equivalent.
• Experience in sustainability management and operations.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in project management and/or related fields, including managing and overseeing organizational development programs.
• Proven work experience in international projects
• Have proficiency in Polish OR Hungarian and English
• Experience in environmental, social and governance (ESG) work preferred.
